Nice attempt. It has an oriental feel to it. There can be more fillings, probably in the form of chords and little more light percussion like a shaker / hi hats kind of sounds. Chords also convey the mood of the song quite well.
How did you compose this tune? What instruments / software did you use?
This is a lovely composition. It reminded me of the music that I listened to during a visit to Cambodia. It sounds very tranquil and unclouded as it is and enjoyable. But with the addition of embellishments , it would gain more dimension. Good luck!
Ramesh – Thanks for commenting. I did realize that. The absence of chords does create a void somewhere. I wanted the track to sound as simple as possible, I did try adding lot of such rhythm layers but I found it distracting and later removed them.
This track actually is a combination of two melodies I composed at two different times and one day while I was listening, i though one could be a counterpoint to the other if the rhythm of one of the theme was slightly modified. I tried it and it worked. After, i developed the two main themes, found ways to connect the two themes seamlessly. I kept adding and removing layers, and sometimes phrases of melody also. The melody was much longer, but i thought the melody travels on too few notes far too many times, so I had cut some phrases of melody also.
I used Fruit Loop software. Tom for rhythm, Guitar and Harp for main melody, a bass guitar, a bass flute, pizzicato strings.
Gianysh – Thanks for the comment. I too feel that it could been arranged better, but as I wanted to make it sound simple, I didn’t think much about arrangement, I was concentration more on the main melody.
also, I heard your flute piece, it was really nice. Haunting, I must say. And i liked your Remixes of ‘Ada’ tracks very much. It souded very fresh and out of the box. Hope you will win the contest and get a chance to work with Rahman.
Balaji – Thanks for the comments. Actually, I never thought of this tribal sound, but as I didn’t get good soundfont of ‘Taiko Drums’, I used regular toms, and that is why it sounds tribal.

I find it quite good, although the background could have been better arranged. Additional tune from 3m05s is pleasant.

That was beautiful. Very simple and soothing. Sounded like an interesting mix of oriental and tribal music.
